Sunderland were held to a 0-0 draw at Turf Moor despite an excellent performance.
James Trafford saved two late penalties from Wilson Isidor, while a stunning CJ Egan-Riley block prevented Eliezer Mayenda from scoring. Isidor had hit the post earlier in the half, with Anthony Patterson in strong form early on to deny Jaidon Anthony.
Here’s how we rated the Black Cats...

9. Enzo Le Fee
One moment of real quality in the second half, spinning away from Roberts and sending Isidor free with a stunning pass. Should have been an assist. Some nice touches and got through a lot of defensive work. 6 Photo: Stu Forster

10. Patrick Roberts
Didn’t see a lot of the ball in space but didn’t quite find his usual quality in the final third. Worked hard for the team. 5 | Patrick Roberts

11. Wilson Isidor
Put in such a big shift against a top opponent in Maxime Esteve. Hard to criticise given his work rate and his constant running and you felt for him as his second penalty was saved by Trafford. Brutal experience for a top player. 5 | PA

12. Eliezer Mayenda
Such a nuisance off the bench. Great work to set Isidor away for the penalty and denied a winner only by a simply stunning defensive block from Egan-Riley. 7 | Getty Images
