Sunderland returned to Premier League action at the Stadium of Light after the international break, facing Wolves in what proved to be another intriguing test for Régis Le Bris’ side. Coming off the back of a 2–0 defeat at Manchester United, the Black Cats were eager to deliver a strong performance in front of their home supporters, with a big crowd once again creating a lively atmosphere on Wearside.
The contest offered plenty of talking points as Sunderland looked to build on the foundations laid earlier in the campaign. There were spells of intensity, moments of quality and challenges to overcome as both sides battled for control in a tightly contested Premier League encounter.
Here’s how Echo chief football writer Phil Smith rated every Sunderland player from their clash with Wolves at the Stadium of Light:

9. RW: Bertrand Traore
Struggled to make much of an impact on the game in possession. Brought off fifteen minutes into the second half as Sunderland were opened up down his flank and having played a few sloppy passes to invite trouble. 5 | Manchester United via Getty Imag

10. LW: Enzo Le Fee
There were a few loose passes but the overall contribution was top drawer. Some fine play for the opener and one or two glorious crosses that deserved more thereafter. As ever, got through a lot of running off the ball. 8 | Getty Images

11. ST: Wilson Isidor
So unlucky that his excellent early effort on his weaker foot was ruled out for offside. Almost scored one audacious effort in the second when he took down a long pass from Alderete. Worked hard with little sight of goal in the main. 6 | Getty Images

12. SUB: Chemsdine Talbi
Another good contribution. Burst infield nicely from the left and though there was more than a touch of fortune, it was his pass turned into the goal by a Wolves defender. 7 | Chris Fryatt
