The Black Cats have strengthened their ranks with the additions of Kyle Lafferty, Bailey Wright and Josh Scowen this month, but Parkinson isn’t ruling-out the possibility of more signings before Friday’s 11pm deadline.

But the Sunderland boss will only move for players who he believes will add something new to the squad – and hinted that it may just be the one player coming through the door at the Stadium of Light.

“Yeah, possibly,” he said.

“We had to work hard to get Josh. Right at the start of the window, he was one we identified. Like I explained with Bailey Wright, sometimes you have to wait.

“There’s a possibility of another signing, but we’ll only bring one in if it’s someone we feel will help us.”

In terms of outgoings, Parkinson claims there have been some tentative enquiries for his out of contract players – but he expects business to ramp-up towards the end of the week.

“At the moment, nothing concrete for anybody,” he admitted.

“A lot of teams have got games tonight or tomorrow, so it might quieten down over the next 24 hours and pick-up on Thursday.”

Parkinson also remains ‘’hopeful’ that Aiden McGeady will leave the club this week – despite a lack of firm interest in the winger.

“At the moment, nothing,” said the Sunderland boss.

“There’s been one or two enquiries but we’re hopeful something could happen.”
