Robinson was sent off and sent to the stands during his side’s 3-1 defeat to Sunderland on Good Friday.

Robinson was dismissed for his reaction to the Black Cats’ second goal, which came from a free-kick that was taken while Cameron Brannagan was waiting for treatment.

The Oxford head coach revealed afterwards that he was sent off for telling referee Trevor Kettle ‘that was a bleeping disgrace and you need to do your bleeping job’.

He will serve the one-game ban immediately and has also been fined £1,000 for breaching FA Rule E3.

An FA statement said: "Robinson admitted that he used abusive and/or insulting language towards a match official during the 81st minute of the fixture and that his behaviour amounted to improper conduct."

It was a feisty encounter at the Stadium of Light and Robinson made allegations afterwards that his goalkeeper had been headbutted in the tunnel during a half-time row and threatened to involve the police.

But the police did not get involved with both clubs keen to move on from the incident. The FA is yet to reveal whether they will take any action.

Goals from Lynden Gooch, Aiden McGeady and Max Power sealed the 3-1 win for Sunderland last Friday.
