Nine wide players Sunderland could try to sign this summer - including ex-Leeds, Liverpool and Norwich men
Sunderland are looking to sign some more wide players before the start of the 2022/23 campaign – with head coach Alex Neil keen to bolster his attacking options.
Lynden Gooch and Patrick Roberts have both signed new deals at the Stadium of Light, while Leon Dajaku has become a permanent Black Cats player after a clause in his loan deal from Union Berlin was activated in the aftermath of promotion to League One.
Still, Sunderland will be assessing their options as they look to strengthen ahead of their return to the Championship.
While Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman has said the Black Cats will have a competitive budget this summer, they will also be looking at the loan and free agent markets.

5. Sheyi Ojo
Another player who has become a free agent this summer. After 11 years at Liverpool, the 25-year-old has left Anfield permanently following several loan spells in the Championship and abroad. Ojo spent last season at Millwall, where he made 18 league appearances, but missed a large chunk of the season due to an injury he suffered in January. After loan spells at Middlesbrough and Birmingham last season, the 29-year-old may be bumped back up the pecking order at Norwich following the Canaries’ relegation to the Championship. Still, with only a year left on his contract at Carrow Road, Hernandez may feel it's time for a new challenge and would bring valuable Championship experience as a two-time promotion winner. Rudoni is a player who Sunderland have already shown strong interest in this summer. The 21-year-old scored 12 goals and provided five assists in League One last season and can play anywhere in an attacking midfield role. Rudoni looks set to leave Wimbledon this summer, with only a year left on his contract, yet The Dons aren’t prepared to sell him on the cheap. Photo: James Chance
Following Nottingham Forest's promotion to the Premier League, the 20-year-old may need a loan move to aid his development. Mighten's pace and directness often proved useful from the bench for Forest boss Steve Cooper, as the winger made 24 Championship appearances last season. Photo: Tony Marshall
