Stoke City sacked manager Michael O’Neill on Thursday with ex-Burnley boss Sean Dyche quickly made the early favourite for the role.

However, overnight Neil’s odds have been slashed to just 11/10 with the bookmakers, at least.

The Potters have won only one and lost three of their opening five games in the Championship this season, and currently lie 21st in the table.

O’Neill was the first Championship boss to lose his job this season.

Other names in the frame to replace him include ex-Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton and current Middlesbrough manager Chris Wilder.

Mark Robins, Dean Holden, Duncan Ferguson, Gareth Ainsworth and Michael Carrick are other names in the early betting.
