Sunderland Ladies advanced to the third round of the FA Cup this afternoon.

Goals from Keira Ramshaw and Holly Manders plus an Eve Blakey hat-trick were more than enough to defeat Sheffield FC.

The match, which was played behind-closed dors at the Academy of Light, was over as a contest in the first half as Sunderland raced into a 3-0 lead before the interval.

“Fantastic work from all the lasses and staff to get a good result after such a quick turnover coming back!

Massive well done to @evegraceblakey on her first senior hat trick for the club, many more to come #proud #safc #HTL #Focus.”

Reay added: “Couldn’t of asked anymore of the squad today.

"High energy levels and a great all round performance after 3 months away.”

Sunderland will play their third round tie against Burnley on April 11.
