Despite challenging conditions and a frustrating first half, there were several impressive performances for the Black Cats, with the likes of Dion Sanderson, Luke O’Nien and Carl Winchester earning praise.

Here’s how some supporters reacted to the result.

@TheDiddyman1: Sanderson must be a dream to have in front of you, makes everything look so easy

@adam_will25: Five games without conceding, five straight wins, win at Wembley, new owner, what a time to be alive

@guffsafc73: Keep McGeady, Sanderson and Wyke fit and we could get even more silverware!

@76skelly: Good three points and a very professional performance from the lads. Sanderson and O’Nien played well at the back again. Impressed with Winchester tonight, thought he done well in the midfield

@jonnygr17: Quality Sanderson like isn’t he. Reminds me of when we had Evans on loan. Just looks so comfortable and runs the full defence, confident bringing the ball out too.

@rosstaylor1977: Got to give Lee Johnson so much credit, never rushed back any injured players let them get right. How many fans and managers would played some them injured players ie Wright, Jones, Stewart let them get back to full fitness

@ElliottSAFC: Good to see Stewart for the first time, was impressed and always good for a forward to get a goal on debut. Get him bedded in and up to speed he could be a good addition. Hopefully Jones' injury isn't bad. I think we missed him tonight.
