'Magical', 'Love him already' - Sunderland fans react to Lee Johnson's first starting XI as Black Cats boss

The former Bristol City manager was confirmed as the new boss on Wearside earlier in the day, and wasted little time in making alterations ahead of his side’s visit from Wigan Athletic.

Remi Matthews, Luke O’Nien, Elliot Embleton, and Charlie Wyke all make way after the 1-1 draw against Burton Albion in midweek, with Lee Burge, Chris Maguire, Will Grigg, and most notably of all, Aiden McGeady, returning the first XI.

The veteran winger has been something of a forgotten man at the Stadium of Light in recent times, and is yet to make a senior appearance for Sunderland so far this season.

The Black Cats has teased that the Irishman could be included in their plans this weekend earlier in the week, and McGeady recently made an appearance in an U23s match against Crystal Palace as he looked to regain match fitness.
