The Black Cats are looking to continue their renewed run of form with a fourth consecutive League One win following Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over Fleetwood Town.

For their part, Crewe picked up a first win in three against Accrington Stanley in their last outing, but are still seven points and six places behind Johnson’s men in the table.

With that in mind, the Sunderland boss has kept largely the same side ahead of the Wearsiders’ clash with Alexandra.

Josh Scowen returns to the starting XI ahead of Grant Leadbitter, but the Black Cats are otherwise unchanged.

Crewe name the same lineup that beat Accrington, meaning that former Sunderland man Mikael Mandron will feature for the hosts.
