That’s it for today
That’s it for today but we’ll be back tomorrow with live coverage of Sunderland’s League One meeting with MK Dons.
In the meantime, we’ve got plenty of build-up, analysis, reaction and more on the SAFC section of the Echo website.
See you soon.
Under-18 fixture postponed
Sunderland’s under-18 Premier League clash against Manchester United has been postponed due to weather concerns.
A forecast of heavy snow in the area has led to the game being called off in advance.
The fixture will now be played on Tuesday 27 April, at 13:00.
Elliot Embleton discusses his big SAFC loan decision
Elliot Embleton is hoping to make his Blackpool debut this weekend and ‘show what he is about’ between now and the end of the season.
The Sunderland youngster made the surprise move on deadline day after a candid discussion with head coach Lee Johnson about his likely playing time between now and the end of the season.
Embleton is hoping for regular gametime under Neil Critchley as he bids to play his way into a central role at the Stadium of Light next season.
“I can’t wait to get started,” Embleton said.
"It’s a good chance to show what I’m about and get some more game time.
“I found out I could go out on loan on deadline day and I managed to get something sorted pretty quickly.
“As soon as I knew Blackpool would take me I was jumping at the chance.
Martin on Will Grigg
The striker won’t be available to face the Black Cats this weekend after signing for MK Dons on loan.
MK Dons boss Russell Martin on Sunderland test
The Sunderland head coach has been quizzed on Grigg
And he confirmed the Echo’s story yesterday, that the striker cannot play for MK Dons against Sunderland this weekend.
Lee Johnson has been discussing Danny Graham’s exit...
I think he and his family can be very proud of his career. We wish Danny very well and I think he'd be a good coach. He had a lot of options. I must have had five, six calls on the back of the news he was leaving us.
Who does Lee Johnson want in the Papa John’s Trophy semi-final?
The Sunderland boss says he wants a home draw - but says his side must be prepared to face any opponent in the last four.
Lee Johnson is here!
And here’s what the Sunderland head coach had to say…
On playing MK Dons back-to-back…
I think it’s a really interesting psychology. I’ve discussed it with the players because it could be the elephant in the room when you get to the stadium. It’s a completely different game.
On team news…
We’ve allowed Callum [McFadzean] to rest off it. I think more than likely he’ll be unfit. The squad is in a decent place in terms of numbers.
On Ross Stewart…
I wanna be extra careful with that one, particularly because his game style is a real running game. I don’t want him to be sprinting or shutting down at 75 per cent because he’s worried about his hamstring. Tuesday may be a tad early - but we’ll be looking to get him involved the weekend after.
On the transfer window…
You connect with the individuals and learn a lot about them. What we know now is once the uncertainty of the January window has been and gone, you settle into ‘this is the squad’. They respect that everybody is going to have to play their part.
On whether he’s had any update on the takeover…
To be honest, no. I’ve genuinely just concentrated on winning, non-stop. All that stuff will take care of itself - even through I truly believe it’s on the right path.
Lee Johnson is coming up shortly...
And we’ll have live updates from his press conference right here!
