Hide AdPosh had already squandered the chance to seal second place on Tuesday night as they were held to a draw against Doncaster Rovers, and must have feared that history was repeating itself when they found themselves 3-0 down against third-placed Lincoln City.
But a second half fightback saw the side claw themselves back into the game – with Jonson Clarke-Harris netting a 96th-minute penalty to ensure the game finished 3-3.
That point was enough for Peterborough to seal promotion, while Hull City’s win against Wigan Athletic saw them claim the League One title.
Charlton lose ground in the play-off race – as Northampton Town and Rochdale relegated
Charlton were the big losers in the play-off race – on a day which saw their rivals all win.

Hide AdOxford and Shrewsbury played out an entertaining contest which was eventually settled by Dan Agyei – who struck in the 85th minute to seal a 3-2 win for the U’s.
Pompey won 3-1 at in-form AFC Wimbledon to keep their plays-off hopes alive, while the Dons also saw survival secured courtesy of results elsewhere.
Northampton Town were not so lucky, however, as they fell to a 3-0 defeat against Blackpool. The win all-but seals the Seasiders’ place in the top six, but has consigned the Cobblers to relegation back to League Two.
Rochdale are also down, having lost 2-1 at home to Doncaster Rovers.
