Sunderland close in on first signing with reports ex-Rangers and Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty 'agrees deal' after positive talks

Kyle Lafferty has agreed a deal with Sunderland, according to reports in Scotland.

The former Rangers striker is a free agent and Sunderland are looking to bolster their striking options as part of a January reshuffle.

As reported earlier in the week, Lafferty met with club representatives at the Sunderland training ground on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old experienced striker is on a free after a spell in Norway with Sarpsborg 08. He has also been linked linked with a possible return to Hearts.

The Daily Record report: "Kyle Lafferty has agreed a deal with Sunderland.

"Record Sport revealed the former Rangers striker spent yesterday locked in talks with the League One side over a switch to the Stadium of Light and pen was put to paper this afternoon.

"Lafferty has been identified by Mackems boss Phil Parkinson as a key January transfer window recruit in his side’s bid to return to the Championship next season."
