Grigg has been linked with a potential loan move to Simon Grayson’s Blackpool, currently sat three points above Sunderland in the League One table.

The 28-year-old has been an unused substitute in Sunderland’s last three league games, with Charlie Wyke firmly establishing himself as Phil Parkinson’s first-choice striker.

“You’d have to ask Phil [what will happen this month] but in my opinion Will is very much part of what we’re about.

“He’s got a proven track record, it’s not quite happened for him yet and he’s probably as disappointed as anybody.

“But he’s working hard, training hard, and he’s very much part of the group.

“I’m sure we’ll need him in the near future.

“Any decisions outside of that will obviously be out of my remit.”

Grigg has three goals from 26 appearances in all competitions this season.
