Phil Parkinson’s side shocked the league leaders to claim a 4-0 win – and fans had plenty of praise for the manager on social media.

Here’s what they were saying:

@Richard_Purdom said: “I NEVER turn on a manager early. NEVER. I'm usually still behind them far longer than is sensible. But the one time I do he immediately turns into Pep Guardiola!!!”

@petski84 added: “Have to admit it. I'm enjoying this. A lot!”

@Owen_DO commented: “Fair play to Parkinson, he's took the abuse on the chin, stubborn attitude but it looks like we are turning a corner, HA'WAY THE LADS”

@sportmad72 posted: “Regardless of result today I actually think Parkinson is turning things around and I hold my hands up. I wanted him out but not now. No point let’s just get behind him and the team. I apologise PP and well done #SAFC loved that first half loved it.”

@samsonplace tweeted: “Where did that come from? Best we’ve played for a long time. Second goal was a fantastic goal. Long may it continue.”

@BuntingFootball added: “Ever since Aiden McGeady was put up for sale, I don't know what it is but everyone has played for eachother and Chris Maguire has settled himself down and hitting good form again. I'm not sure if McGeady has anything to do with it but it's a strange one”

@ianhigh1 said: “3 nil up at half time, two games running. Playing the type of football they should be capable of week in week out at this level. It’s a poor league and nows the time to push on and get promotion. Well done Phil Parkinson for getting this response from the team”

@JamesBovill1 posted: “Three nill up at half time is unreal! Couldn’t have predicted this before the match but we have flown out the gates here. Has Parky started to get it right? Is he actually any good? Mental”

@Phillip_RJ89 commented: “This is excellent stuff. Positive, attacking football, and a great attitude from the players. Keep it up second half, see this game out, and then we’ll have genuine cause for optimism.”
