What to make of those sides

So it's two changes following Sunderland's 1-0 win over Leeds on Tuesday.

Patrick Roberts and Pierre Ekwah return to the side as Jobe Bellingham and Jenson Seelt drop to the bench.

Bristol City have also made two changes following their 2-1 defeat at Blackburn last time out.

Anis Mehmeti and West Brom loanee Taylor Gardner-Hickman return to the side in place of Sam Bell and Joe Williams.

Nahki Wells is back on the bench for the hosts following an ankle injury.

Less then a minute on the clock and Bristol City forward Conway has already been shown a yellow card for a late tackle on O'Nien.

Sunderland have started with Huggins at right-back an Hume at left-back.

Clarke is in the No 10 position with Roberts on the right and Ba on the left. Pritchard has started as a false No 9.

5' Mike Dodds chants

The Sunderland fans were chanting Mike Dodds' name there and are now chanting 'is this a library?'

The visitors have seen more of the ball so far with Bristol dropping back into a 4-4-2 system out of possession.

The home fans are appealing for a penalty after Sykes appeared to nip in front of Ballard and the pair collided. The referee waved play-on.

At the other end Pritchard's in-swinging corner was palmed over the bar by O'Leary.

10' Hume shot saved

Hume managed to get forward from left-back there, yet his low shot from the edge of the box was comfortable for O'Leary to save.

14' A spell of possession for the hosts

Bristol City have just had a spell of possession and look like they are playing with a back three when they have the ball.

Left-back Pring is pushing right up the pitch and even collided with Patterson in the Sunderland box there following a cross from the right.

19' Quick feet from Roberts

Roberts did brilliantly there to beat a couple of Bristol City players before dribbling to the edge of the box.

The winger's shot lacked power and was straight at O'Leary.
