Championship clubs Cardiff, Birmingham, Stoke, Luton and Millwall have all been credited with interest, while it’s understood Sheffield United are keeping tabs on the player.

Yet according to the Daily Mail, Sunderland have made an initial offer, understood to be around £1million, for Sanderson which has been swiftly rejected by Wolves.

Sanderson has seen his path to the first team at Molyneux blocked further by the arrival of Colombian youngster Yerson Mosquera, while Wolves have recently appointed Bruno Lage as their new manager.

Sunderland head coach Lee Johnson has previously made no secret of the fact he would be interested in a deal for Sanderson if it was possible.

Speaking in February after rumours of interest in a permanent deal surfaced, Johnson said: “We love Dion and he's ours for the short term, but obviously part of our job is to help develop him for Wolves if they deem that they want him to stay on.

"We wish him all the best [with that] of course.

"Of course, if not, then a club like our would of course be interested in a young talent like Dion.”

It’s been reported Wolves value the player at around £2million.
