Former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips has delivered his verdict on Dion Sanderson’s chances of signing for the Black Cats.
The central defender, on loan from Wolves, cemented himself as one of Lee Johnson’s first defenders before suffering a season-ending injury and will miss the play-offs.
"He was a shining light for Sunderland prior to the injury. He has shown that he has great qualities. I’m sure he will be a top defender.

“He clearly likes the club and feels comfortable in the North-East.
“If Sunderland were to go up and could afford him it sounds like he would be happy to sign. It is a very good sign for the club in regards to signing him this summer.”
Sunderland ready to hijack Aberdeen deal for centre-back
According to the Daily Record, Sunderland are said to be ready to hijack a deal for Clark Robertson.

It has been stated that Robertson was meeting up with Aberdeen manager Stephen Glass this week or at the start of next week to discuss the move.
