Kevin Danso issues two-word Instagram apology to Sunderland fans after Bournemouth red card
Sunderland defender Kevin Danso has apologised to supporters following his early dismissal during Sunday's disappointing Premier League defeat against Bournemouth
Kevin Danso has issued a brief apology to Sunderland supporters after being sent off just 17 minutes into Sunday's 2-0 defeat against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
The Austrian international endured a difficult afternoon as Régis Le Bris' side suffered their fourth successive Premier League defeat, leaving them 19th in the table with just four points from seven matches.
Danso was involved in the defensive confusion that allowed Marcus Tavernier to open the scoring after five minutes, before being dismissed shortly afterwards for bringing down Evanilson as the striker threatened to race through on goal.
Referee Craig Pawson showed the defender a straight red card for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity, with VAR subsequently upholding the decision. Taking to Instagram on Monday morning, Danso shared a black-and-white photograph of himself leaving the pitch following his dismissal, accompanied by a short message. "Unacceptable. Apologies," the defender wrote.
His dismissal left Sunderland facing an uphill battle for more than 70 minutes, with Bournemouth eventually doubling their advantage through Evanilson following another defensive mistake. Danso will now serve a one-match domestic suspension, ruling him out of Sunday's Premier League clash against Leeds United at the Stadium of Light.

However, the 28-year-old remains available for Thursday's Europa League fixture away to Lech Poznań, with UEFA disciplinary regulations operating separately from domestic competitions. His absence against Leeds creates another defensive headache for Le Bris, particularly with Dan Ballard still sidelined through injury.
