The Lady Black Cats face Sheffield FC Women in the FA Cup on April 4 and will return to training ahead of the game.

The second-round clash was supposed to be played at the Stadium of Light on January 3.

But government restrictions saw the fixture postponed.

It will now be played behind closed doors at the Academy of Light.

The match comes after the FA announced the curtailment of the Women's National League earlier, which has been declared null and void for the second season in a row.

Speaking to safc.com, captain Keira Ramshaw said: “Words can't describe how excited and happy I am to return to football.

“It's been a long time without it, and we have missed it so much.

“I can't wait for us all to be back together again in person, concentrating on our upcoming games and enjoying the normality of playing football and being together again.”
