Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Gareth Southgate said that the last few days had been ‘positive’ for the Sunderland academy graduate.

Meanwhile, the Press Association report that Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka did not train with the main group, with the Football Association saying they were “following a personal training programme indoors to manage load”.
