Key figures at the club were set to meet with various fan groups on Thursday in their latest structured dialogue meeting.

Sunderland’s chief executive officer Jim Rodwell stated the decision had been made as the club ‘remains in a period of exclusivity with a preferred buyer and due to the advancement and sensitivity of this process, it would be inappropriate to comment publicly at this time.’

In response to that decision, prominent fan group Red and White Army have called for the sale process to be concluded quickly given that the ‘patience of a lot of fans is wearing thin.’
