Derby head into Tuesday’s contest on the back of a controversial loss to Norwich City. It was their fourth defeat in seven games since returning to the Championship.
The Black Cats have started the season in better form, winning five of their matches but were beaten by Watford at Vicarage Road last time out as they seek for a big week on home soil before the international break as they take on Derby and then welcome Leeds United to the north east on Friday night.
However, Adams is keen for Derby to showcase their credentials as he looked ahead to tonight’s contest. He said on the Derby County club website: “It'll be the same as every other game; it will be difficult. If we can get a win there, it'll be massive. They're a good team, they're doing really well. They've got a young side and we are looking forward to it. As I said, they'll be tough as any other fixture. I back ourselves and we go there with full confidence.
