'Is this the return of Gustavo?' - Sunderland fans develop manager theory after cryptic club tweet

The club once again finds itself without a manager following the sacking of Phil Parkinson on Sunday night.

Since the former Bradford City boss’ dismissal, talk has turned towards who Sunderland should appoint next in their quest for League One promotion.

Former Cats boss Gus Poyet is a name which keeps cropping up, alongside former defender John O’Shea.

Danny Cowley - once of Lincoln City and Huddersfield Town – is also said to be in the running, alongside ex-Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth manager Paul Cook.

However, a rather cryptic post from Sunderland’s Twitter account this morning sparked fresh speculation that the club has found their man.

@mickylough95: “Think this may be a clue. I mean I might be putting two and two together and getting a thousand of course.”

@BenCra1g: “Everyone is reading way too much into this they literally just mean we are back playing at home after some away games guys.”

@JofraJones92: “There’s no way this is unintentional! Has to be a major clue to who the next gaffer is...”
