Black Cats supporters have developed an interesting theory after a cryptic tweet was posted on Sunderland's Twitter account this morning.

The club once again finds itself without a manager following the sacking of Phil Parkinson on Sunday night.

Since the former Bradford City boss’ dismissal, talk has turned towards who Sunderland should appoint next in their quest for League One promotion.

Former Cats boss Gus Poyet is a name which keeps cropping up, alongside former defender John O’Shea.

Danny Cowley - once of Lincoln City and Huddersfield Town – is also said to be in the running, alongside ex-Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth manager Paul Cook.
