The Black Cats welcome the U’s to the Stadium of Light on Good Friday with defenders Bailey Wright and Tom Flanagan likely to miss out.
There is, however, positive news regarding left-back duo Denver Hume, who nearing a return alongside attacker Jordan Jones.
Will they make the starting XI to face Oxford United, though? Here, we take a look at how we think Johnson will line up:

6. CM - Josh Scowen

7. CM - Grant Leadbitter
The midfielder came off the bench against Bristol Rovers last time out but could add some composure to Sunderland's play providing his ongoing shoulder injury is okay. Carl Winchester will also be pushing for a start, however. Photo: FRANK REID 2019

8. LW - Aiden McGeady
Like Dion Sanderson, Lee Burge and Charlie Wyke; Aiden McGeady is pretty much undroppable on current form and is expected to take his usual spot on the left-hand side. Photo: FRANK REID 2019
