Sunderland host Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday evening (KO 7pm) and Crewe boss David Artell has hailed the striker’s impact with five goals in his first seven games.
Signed from Gillingham in the summer, Mandron poses a big threat to Sunderland’s patched-up defence and he has quickly settled at Crewe.

Hide AdArtell said: “Mikael has been a real breath of fresh air. He always comes in with a smile on his face and makes people laugh. He is great around the place and a really good guy.
“On the pitch, he works his socks off for the team and has plenty about him. I am sure he is loving life at Crewe at the moment with the goals he has scored and long may that continue.
“When we profiled him as a potential target, we assessed his all round game and not just on the amount of goals he had scored. It was important that he could fit into what we wanted to do and he did.
“We felt he was a good age and that he would improve and he is going at things in the right way. Hopefully, the way he has started the season will continue.”
