The 28-year-old, who joined the Tigers from Peterborough last summer, has joined the Championship newcomers for an undisclosed fee after making 19 appearances during the 2020/21 season.

Speaking after sealing the deal, Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth said:” We’ve come up against Ryan many times down the years and he’s always been a strong, commanding presence in any defence we’ve faced, and also a real threat from our set-pieces with his height and heading ability.

“Our defence was the bedrock for our success last season and he’ll add real competition for places and give us another option with lots of games coming thick and fast.”

His exit further reduces the number of options available to Hull boss Grant McCann ahead of their trip to the Stadium of Light on Saturday – with Lewie Coyle suspended and Josh Magennis and James Scott away on international duty.

Meanwhile, Adam Matthews has decided to snub an offer of a new contract at Charlton Athletic for the time being.

Matthews, whose contract expired at the end of last season, has been training with the Addicks over the summer in a bid to keep up his fitness.

Manager Lee Bowyer was keen to hand the Welsh international a new deal but a contract embargo placed upon the club by the EFL meant Charlton had to wait for an exit before making their move for Matthews.

And with defender Tom Lockyer having left for Luton, there was hope a deal for Matthews could be struck – but Bowyer has revealed the full-back is now exploring other options.

"Adam’s not going to happen at the moment,” he explained.

“[Director of Football] Steve Gallen went to his agent who said ‘not at the moment’. They just want to see what else is out there for them, which is their choice. So, we have to go down a different line now.

“We’re looking at other options and who we can bring in quickly. We’ve got loads of players lined up but they won’t wait around.”
