Grant Leadbitter admits the delay to Sunderland's clash with Ipswich Town was a strange experience for the players – but was delighted with how the dressing room put the circumstances aside.

The Black Cats were going through some of the final stages of their preparation prior to the warm-up when word came from the EFL that kick-off would be pushed back by half-an-hour.

Plans had to quickly change, and Leadbitter was pleased to see Sunderland adapted well – and enjoyed a strong start to the game, despite the pre-match circumstances.

When asked if it was strange to deal with as players, the minutes said: “It was, absolutely.

"We were getting ready to come out to warm-up and then get told we've got half an hour to wait.

"You've got to change your plans, but to be fair I thought we came out and we were sharp. We were sharp around the first 15 minutes, and that's something you just have to deal with.”
