'Hopefully he hasn't been put off': Sunderland fans react to takeover update as Kyril Louis-Dreyfus watches dismal Shrewsbury Town defeat

The result at New Meadow saw the Black Cats miss another opportunity to move into the League One play-off places, while teams around them also have games in hand.

Louis-Dreyfus, 23, has agreed a deal to purchase a majority stake in the club from Stewart Donald, with the deal confirmed on Christmas Eve.

Even so, Black Cats supporters are under no illusion about the situation their club is in.

We asked fans on our social media platforms what their thoughts were after seeing Louis-Dreyfus at the game.

@44stu added: To me it means nothing, the squad we have now has to see the season out but it needs to be confirmed ready for the first day we can sign new players, next season is when kid will be judged

@gazza_dj replied: For me it is very worrying simply because he may well be thinking do I really want to invest in this? And for me the answer would be NO and pull out of the deal which I think will happen because of the length of time it is taking
