The result at New Meadow saw the Black Cats miss another opportunity to move into the League One play-off places, while teams around them also have games in hand.

Louis-Dreyfus, 23, has agreed a deal to purchase a majority stake in the club from Stewart Donald, with the deal confirmed on Christmas Eve.

We asked fans on our social media platforms what their thoughts were after seeing Louis-Dreyfus at the game.

Here are some of the responses:

On Twitter @BeerDrummer said: Sooner he takes over the better.

@44stu added: To me it means nothing, the squad we have now has to see the season out but it needs to be confirmed ready for the first day we can sign new players, next season is when kid will be judged

@tom200atk tweeted: He looks as sick as we are, our club is in desperate need of something. Just hope this fellas the answer

@gazza_dj replied: For me it is very worrying simply because he may well be thinking do I really want to invest in this? And for me the answer would be NO and pull out of the deal which I think will happen because of the length of time it is taking

Meanwhile on our Sunderland Echo SAFC Facebook page, Kaveh Fazlali replied: Well hopefully he hasn't been put off with the rubbish from last night

Steven Shaw posted: Means absolutely nothing for this season. Still positive if we can get promoted this season though

Nick Safc joked: He’s probably realised the enormous task he now faces, checked his bank balance, and bought an island in the Caribbean instead!

Jason Wesley Biggs responded: Just never seems to end and all the time we have to watch the poorest Sunderland team in history.

Danny Babij suggested: He needs to buy 100% of the club and get rid of Donald & his crew to start afresh
