'Haway!': Sunderland fans praise Phil Parkinson's bold selection call against Fleetwood Town
Phil Parkinson has named his Sunderland side to take on Fleetwood Town – and supporters have been quick to react.
The Black Cats are unchanged from the side that beat Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon, with Alim Ozturk retaining his place in the starting line-up after he replaced the injured Bailey Wright at the weekend.
George Dobson meanwhile, who is one booking away from a two-game suspension, is also handed a start as Parkinson makes the bold cold to stick with the same side despite a hectic run of fixtures.
Here’s what Sunderland supporters had to say about the team news:
@JaiOliver5 said: “Haway the lads! On our way”
@safc1973al added: “Tonight's going to be a really really tough game. Would take a 1.0 win with the scrappiest goal ever right now”
@guitarsmiler commented: “Hope we are able to add another three beautiful points onto our tally tonight”
@gavwilsafc posted: “Massive game this a win would be a big statement for promotion, Ha'way the lads!”
@dan_humphrey1 tweeted: “Unchanged *love heart eyes*”
@G_McBeth94 asked: “What was the point in signing Declan john or is he injured”
@Ianc1102 jested: “So boring reading the team news these days. Ross’s random team generator was so much more fun.”
@molly_atki added: “How is Declan John not on the bench over Connor McLaughlin?? Like are we all missing something”
Here’s the Sunderland side in full:
Sunderland AFC XI: J McLaughlin; Willis, Ozturk, Flanagan; Hume, O’Nien, Power, Dobson; Gooch, Maguire, Wyke
