The Black Cats should be full of confidence following last weekend’s 2-0 win over Middlesbrough – but are still dealing with several injury setbacks.

Captain Corry Evans is likely to miss the rest of the season after suffering damage to his anterior cruciate ligament, a blow which may alter the club’s transfer plans.

Sunderland have made three new signings in January, though, with forward Joe Gelhardt joining on loan from Leeds until the end of the season.

We’ll bring you live updates, analysis and reaction from today’s match as Sunderland aim to reach the fifth round of the competition:

RECAP: Fulham 1 (Cairney, 61) Sunderland 1 (Clarke, 6)

Key Events

  • Sunderland XI: Patterson, Hume, Batth, Ballard, Alese (Huggins, 45), Neil, Michut (Ekwah, 77), Roberts (Rigg, 86), Amad, Clarke (Bennette, 77), Stewart (Ba, 20)
  • Subs: Bass, Huggins, Ba, Rigg, Bennette, Ekwah, Kelly, Johnson, Watson
  • Fulham XI: Rodak, Tete, Tosin, Diop, Kurzawa, Palhinha, Pereira, Cairney (Reed, 77), Solomon, Wilson (Willian, 69), Vinicius (Mitrovic, 64)
  • Subs: Leno, Duffy, Reed, Mitrovic, Ream, De Cordova-Reid, Willian, James, Harris

So Mowbray has named a strong side and made just one change from the Sunderland side which started against Middlesbrough last weekend.

Edouard Michut comes in for the injured Corry Evans, while Aji Alese is passed fit after being forced off against Boro.

New signing Pierre Ekwah is named on the bench, while Niall Huggins has returned to the squad following his injury setback.

There is no Bailey Wright in the squad today, though,  amid interest from other clubs.

Academy players Chris Rigg, Tom Watson, Caden Kelly and Zak Johnson have been named on the nine-man bench.

Fulham have made seven changes from their last league game against Tottenham, with Kenny Tete, Issa Diop, Joao Palhinha and Andreas Pereira.

Top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic is on the bench.

Fulham almost took an early lead there after Palhinha took the ball off Amad and drove forward into space.

The ball then dropped to Wilson in the box who forced a save from Patterson.

Amad felt he was fouled.

6’ GOOOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!! CLARKE!!!

The 6,000 away fans at the opposite end erupt as Clarke takes the ball off Diop and slots the ball home with a low finish.

Fulham had started brightly but Sunderland lead.

9’ Amad coming into the game

Sunderland look up for it now with Amad getting into the game.

The playmaker broke down the right moments ago before his low cross was cut out by Tete.

Amad then went on another run into the box minutes later and went down but nothing was given.

14’ Big chance for Fulham

That should have been 1-1.

Fulham worked the ball well from a short corner and Pereira’s cross found the unmarked Tosin.

The defender headed the ball into the ground as his effort bounced over the bar.

This doesn’t look good.

Stewart has gone down inside the Fulham box after running for the ball looks in some discomfort.
