Graham has reportedly trained with the Black Cats as Phil Parkinson weighs-up his options, but what other striker targets could the Black Cats be considering?
We take a look at nine free agent strikers that Sunderland could target if they fail to land Graham – although the salary cap may make it difficult to seal deals for some of these players:
1. Dominic Samuel
Released by Blackburn Rovers this summer, Samuel looked set to join Championship newcomers Rotherham only for a deal to collapse last month. The striker has bags of pace and could well shine at League One level. Photo: Justin Setterfield
2. Tomer Hemed
The Israeli international may have his sights set higher than League One, but the longer he goes without finding a club the more a move to the third tier may appeal. Hemed's pedigree suggests he would be a real asset in this division. Photo: Justin Setterfield
3. Omar Bogle
It's been a tricky few years for Bogle, who has struggled to make his mark in the Championship - and indeed in League One during a loan spell with Portsmouth. Signing him would represent something of a risk, but one which could well be rewarded if he can rediscover the form that made him a sought-after striker only a few years ago. Photo: Alex Pantling
4. Rudy Gestede
Wages would be an obvious issue with this one, but there's no doubt that Gestede - who left Middlesbrough this summer - could hit the goal trail in League One. Photo: Alex Davidson
