Former Sunderland forward returns to North East with National League North loan
A former Sunderland youngster has joined National League North club Spennymoor Town on loan.
Former Sunderland youngster Ethan Moore has returned to the North East after agreeing to a short-term loan deal with National League North club Spennymoor Town.
The versatile forward was a regular in Academy of Light sides throughout his time in the Black Cats youth ranks before a serious knee injury left him on the sidelines for over two and a half years. Moore joined Gateshead on a half-season loan deal in January earlier this year and showed some promising signs as the Tynesiders fought a remarkable and ultimately successful battle against relegation from the National League.

However, the departure of manager Rob Elliot to Carlisle United during the summer scuppered any hopes of a permanent move to the International Stadium. After becoming a free agent when his Sunderland contract came to an end, Moore joined Kidderminster Harriers and he has provided one assist in six appearances during the first two months of the season.
After struggling for regular game-time, Moore has now joined Spennymoor as he becomes new manager Peter Hartley’s first signing since he was named as permanent successor to former boss Tommy Miller earlier this month. The new man in charge at Brewery Field is relishing the opportunity to work with Moore after he finalised an initial one-month loan with the Moors.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m delighted to welcome Ethan to Spennymoor Town. If we want to be successful, we need competition in all areas and Ethan is a player who can deliver in the final third when called upon. I’m excited to work with him.”
