The 2020 summer transfer window was always going to be different.

Opening on July 27th and ending on October 5th in Europe and October 16th for English clubs, the coronavirus health pandemic was always likely to take its toll on every club, and the newly-installed salary cap was another factor for clubs.

The late loan move for Dion Sanderson could make for a good addition to the Sunderland side after injuries to both Morgan Feeney and Arbenit Xhemajli on a long-term basis left the Black Cats short in the defensive area.

Whilst at Cardiff for the second half of last season, Sanderson made a fairly pleasing impression with the Cardiff fans, so hopefully he can produce the same form if he is called upon in the red-and-white of Sunderland.

After striker Kyle Lafferty left the club in the summer, Phil Parkinson was always left with a conundrum in attack with only Charlie Wyke and Will Grigg being the only recognised strikers.

The free signing of Danny Graham was always one that hung over the club over the first couple of weeks of the window until he signed, but in the long run, he will likely be pivotal if he is able to begin netting goals in League One.

Furthermore, the conversion of a loan move to a permanent one for Bailey Wright was greeted with success and during the opening parts of the season, he has continued his brilliant defensive form by playing a role in a back three that has only conceded one goal in League One so far.

The difference between the 2020 transfer window and that of the ones from previous years was immense, but hopefully that won't stop us from using our additions to help us claim promotion.
