Sunderland were interested in a deal for striker Lyle Taylor ahead of their first season in League One.

Taylor held talks with the club on Wearside but later signed for Charlton Athletic – before then going on to join Nottingham Forest.

But having fallen out of favour at the City Ground, reports have suggested that Taylor could be allowed to leave on loan this summer.

Football League World claim that Barnsley and Blackburn Rovers are on alert over a potential deal – but Middlesbrough, who were linked with a swoop, are not understood to be pursuing a move.

Sunderland are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer with Charlie Wyke having been linked with an exit.

Fresh interest in popular defender

Reports on Monday evening suggested that Sunderland have seen a £1million bid for Dion Sanderson knocked-back.

And the Daily Mail also listed a number of clubs thought to be monitoring the situation surrounding the Wolves defender – with some new names reportedly in the frame.

Stoke City, Luton Town and Millwall have all now been linked with Sanderson too.
