It’s no different at the Academy of Light, where Phil Parkinson is looking to add some additional depth to his Sunderland squad before the window closes.

And a number of former Black Cats – and reported targets – have also been the subject of some interesting transfer updates over the course of the day:

Former Black Cat Lee Camp remains a free agent – but has been handed the chance to train at Sheffield Wednesday.

Camp was released by Birmingham City and was linked with a move to Salford City over the summer.

But that deal failed to materialise and the stopper remains without a club as we enter the final stages of the transfer window.

And while he has spent recent weeks training with the Owls, manager Garry Monk insists the arrangement is purely to allow the stopper to retain his fitness.

Monk told The Star: “He just needed some training, he hasn’t found a club yet - he knows us very well, he lives further up north with his family, and he asked if he could come in to keep fit.

“At Birmingham, Campy was fantastic with me. He’s a great lad, and when you have people in your career that you respect, you try and help them out in times of need. He wants to try and keep on top of his fitness, so that’s what we’re doing really.”

Sunderland-linked players on the move

Two players linked with Sunderland this summer look set to seal moves elsewhere.

Leeds United midfielder Robbie Gotts – who has attracted interest from a number of League One sides – is set to sign for Lincoln City on loan, according to various reports.

Meanwhile, full-back Ali Koiki is reportedly on the verge of joining Bristol Rovers.

Koiki turned down a new deal at Burnley in the summer and the Clarets are eligible for compensation once the youngster signs for a new club.
