Allardyce has been out of management since leaving Everton in 2018, but now looks set to take the reins at the Hawthorns after the departure of Slaven Bilic.

The Croatian manager is set to leave the club after Tuesday evening’s draw with Manchester City – a result that left the Baggies second bottom of the Premier League with just seven points to their name.

And Allardyce is expected to be the man to step into the void, with various reports suggesting that a six-month contract has already been agreed with the 66-year-old.

Reports suggest that contract could be extended by a year if West Brom remain in the top flight.

Allardyce has already pulled out a number of media commitments for this weekend as he prepares for a return to management.

It will be his third job in club management since leaving Sunderland, following brief spells with both Crystal Palace and the Toffees.

Speaking earlier this month, Allardyce said it would take the ‘right club’ to get him back into management.

“Well, it’s the longest I’ve been out of football in my entire life since I left school at 15,” he said, when speaking to EFL on Quest.

“It’s been just over two years, so I have got itchy feet but in saying that I’m not actively looking.

“If somebody came along and it was really attractive to me and I felt that I could have a good relationship with the owners and the chief exec and the team looked like they were heading in the right direction and you can take them somewhere.

"It would all be about success and success for me could be taking a team out of trouble and building that team and taking them up or trying to get a team promoted.

“We’ll have to wait and see.

“I think dreams of a big club in the Premier League would not be my ambition anymore but certainly, if the right club came along, it would be nice to get back in, I’ve missed it.

“But I have had a really good break and have enjoyed it.”
