The Black Cats are searching for as many as five new arrivals during the winter trading period, with Parkinson set to make his mark on the squad after some disappointing resuls of late.
But who could be arriving at the Stadium of Light? Scroll down and click through the pages to see who has been linked with Sunderland:
1. Liam Kelly (Feyenoord)
The 24-year-old has fallen out of favour at Feyenoord and is believed to be available for a move in January. Sunderland, Oxford United and MK Dons are all reportedly keen on Kelly, who only left Championship side Reading in the summer. Photo: Dan Mullan
2. James Scott (Motherwell)
The young striker was reportedly scouted by the Black Cats earlier this year, with Scott having caught the eye with his performances for the Scottish top tier side. However, Premier League sides are also believed to monitoring the forward. Photo: Ian MacNicol
3. James Garner (Manchester United)
Sunderland were claimed to be interested in a loan deal for creative midfielder Garner, but his ascension into the first team picture at Manchester United may well see the Red Devils block a January exit. Photo: Will Russell
4. Bruno Davidson (Hutchinson Vale)
The 15-year-old has been linked with Leeds, Derby, Celtic and Sunderland in recent months - with the latter two reportedly having submitted bids for his services in October. If he were to arrive on Wearside, it seems safe to say he would be a player destined for the academy rather than the first-team fold. Photo: TY
