Sunderland won't be signing Bobby Duncan on loan today, as far as we understand

There was a lot of talk about Bobby Duncan heading to Wearside yesterday before the transfer window closes at 11pm tonight. As Phil Smith alluded to on Twitter last night, however, there weren't many positive noises at the SAFC end about any possible deal.

And The Athletic are also now reporting that the loan move for the ex-Liverpool Fiorentina striker won't happen.

The noon deadline has passed - meaning Phil Parkinson is unlikely to have any new signings available tomorrow

Sunderland are in the market for new faces on transfer deadline day - but are unlikely to have any new recruits that can play against Portsmouth.

While the EFL transfer deadline is at 11pm this evening, any new signings had to be registered by Noon in order to play in the Sunderland’s next fixture.

For EFL rules stipulate that all paperwork relating to a transfer must be submitted to and approved by the governing body by “12.00 noon on the day prior to the date of such match”.

Kevin Van Veen moves to clarify Sunderland rumours

Sunderland were one of several League One clubs linked with a move for Scunthorpe United striker Kevin Van Veen earlier today.

But the striker has spoken out on the interest and - while claiming it is 'real' - has hinted that he won't be on the move today.

Here's what he posted to Scunthorpe fans on Facebook:

BREAKING: Jack Ross confirms interest in Marc McNulty

Jack Ross has confirmed that Marc McNulty is one of a number of players he has been monitoring.

The Echo understands that the striker is likely to head to Easter Road today, and Ross has hinted that a 'chain' could be involved in the deal.

"He’s amongst a number of players we’ve been trying explore how the strong the possibility is of getting him here," said Ross on the Sunderland loanee.

"It’s not a particular easy window to do business in because there’s a chain involved in a lot of these deals."
