Deadline passes for Sunderland and other League One clubs to have final say on EFL proposals ahead of key vote
League One clubs had until 5pm today to have their final say on EFL proposals to conclude the 2019-20 campaign ahead of a key vote over the next week.
Sunderland want the season to be completed as it is the only way they can win promotion this season given they are currently outside the play-offs and would remain so on points-per-game, if that formula was to be used if the season was curtailed.
It remains the EFL priority to finish the season but their framework also clearly paved the way for third-tier clubs to reject a resumption, a 51% majority would be enough to settle the table on PPG.
Before such a vote can be held, the EFL’s framework must be approved.
To pass, it must be supported by a majority of clubs across all three divisions as well as a majority within the Championship.
A final vote is then expected to be held next Monday.
