Competition: Win a 'Welcome to Sunderland' T-shirt to celebrate new iconic Stadium of Light signage

The Sunderland Echo has teamed up with A Love Supreme for a new competition to win a ‘Welcome to Sunderland’ T-shirt to celebrate an iconic new sign.

Visible from as far away as Keel Square, the famous Welcome to Sunderland sign is back. A recreation of the signage which once adorned the back of the legendary Fulwell End in the old Roker Park, the new sign took its place on the side of the Roker End at the Stadium of Light this week ahead of the Friday night clash with Nottingham Forest. Installed by a team from Sunderland-based WH Forster Printers, all 19 letters are now in place. And to celebrate the sign’s return, you can win a T-shirt courtesy of A Love Supreme.

To be in with a chance of winning the T-shirt, simply answer this question: Sunderland have announced that they have signed a multi-year extension to their kit agreement but who currently makes SAFC’s kit?

1) hummel

2) Nike

3) Adidas

Email your answer, along with your name and phone number, to [email protected] by 12pm on Monday April 27th. The lucky winner will be notified via email later that day. This is not a cash prize.

The T-shirt is priced at £20 and available in the following sizes; S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL. An ALS statement read: “The Roker End is the first thing fans see when walking over the new bridge on a matchday so it's great to see the club recognising this by upgrading the SOL's exterior. “To commemorate this redevelopment, and with an eye on our Roker Park history, we're releasing this new t-shirt!”

Sunderland architectural and engineering practice Building Design Northern worked with Sunderland AFC to recreate the signage, aiming to make it true to the original. The unveiling of the sign forms part of a ‘Made in Sunderland’ week, which the club is running in partnership with University of Sunderland.
