Charlie Wyke, Grant Leadbitter and Sunderland nominated for EFL awards

Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke has been shortlisted for the EFL’s League One Player of the Season award – along with former Black Cats’ captain George Honeyman.

Wyke has been in excellent form this campaign, scoring 25 league goals in 41 appearances for the Wearsiders.

Honeyman has also been influential for league leaders Hull, whose promotion from the third tier was confirmed last weekend.

Peterborough frontman Jonson Clarke-Harris will make up the three-man shortlist and looks set to finish as the division’s top scorer after netting 29 goals.

For the goal of the season award, Grant Leadbitter’s excellent strike against Doncaster back in November has been nominated for the prize, along with four other goals from across the EFL.

Sunderland have also been nominated for the Your Move Community Club of the Year award along with Blackburn, Port Vale, Portsmouth, Bristol Rovers and Watford.

The winners will be announced on Thursday April 29.
