36’ Another chance for Bolton

Bolton’s front two of Afoloyan and Charles have looked lively in this first half.

This time Afoloyan cut in from the left before firing a low effort just wide from distance.

That just about sums up Sunderland’s half.

Winchester is pulled up for a foul throw after Sunderland had got into Bolton’s the final third.

31’ Embleton shot saved

That’s Sunderland’s first effort on target.

It came from distance as Embleton cut in from the right and curled an effort straight at Trafford.

Comfortable save.

28’ More pressure from Bolton

Sunderland are rocking here.

Another move down the right saw Fossey deliver a low cross into the box which was just cut out by Neil.

A really poor goal to concede.

It came straight from a goal kick as Trafford’s clearance went over Doyle’s head.

Charles ran in behind, as Hoffmann came off his line, and the Bolton striker dinked the bouncing ball over the goalkeeper.

1-0.

15’ Bolton trying to play out

Bolton are trying to play out from the back where possible but goalkeeper Trafford has been forced to try and switch the ball out to the flanks at times.

Santos was almost caught in possession by Stewart but managed to recover the situation.

10’ Not many chances so far

6’ A couple of early crosses

Bolton have started in a 3-4-1-2 formation so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Sunderland found some space on the flanks there but Dajaku and then Gooch overhit their crosses.
