But the Sunderland youngster has confirmed that he is not considering a return to his homeland as he continues to weigh-up his future.

Kimpioka was offered a new contract by the Black Cats last year, but is understood to be eyeing promises of first-team football before committing himself to the club.

The 20-year-old officially became a free agent on June 30 when his Sunderland contract expired, and is now training with Sirius ahead of the Allsvenskan game against AIK.

Kimpioka had previously trained with the side just after the English season was suspended, before returning to Wearside as hopes of League One kicking-off once more mounted.

But with the League One season curtailed, he is back in Sweden – according to a tweet from Swedish publication UNT.

However, when quizzed by the same outlet as to whether a permanent return to Sweden was on the cards, Kimpioka said: “No. That's how I feel and I have big dreams and ambitions.”

"Right now I'm waiting a bit, talking to my agent and family to see how we should do in the window that is coming,” he said.

“Sunderland is a club that I love and I like everyone there, all the coaches, players and staff in the club.

“We'll see. I want to stay there, but everything is in God's hands.”
