'Been my favourite player' - Sunderland fans send messages of support to Jordan Willis after devastating injury setback
Sunderland fans have sent messages of support to Jordan Willis after it was announced he is facing another year on the sidelines.
Willis was initially ruled out for six months in February after rupturing his patella tendon during the 2-1 defeat to Shrewsbury Town.
The 26-year-old has undergone further surgery on Wednesday, which will rule him out for nine to twelve months.
Wills is out of contract at the end of the season but the Black Cats are committed to supporting him through his recovery.
@hairybreeches: Gutted. Sending best wishes Jordan, stay strong. Been my favourite player in a red and white shirt the past few years, I know you will be again.
@christyzack: Awful news for the lad, still young enough to come back for his prime years with Sunderland out of this league though. All the best @J2Willis.
@GazJFisher: That’s crazy, I hope this means he signs a 2/3 year deal next year to pay us back somehow.
@Hendo1980: The amount of defensive injuries we’ve had this season is unbelievable, hope Jordan is on the mend soon, stay strong fella! #safc
@iiEdz_: Our luck with injuries is unmatched. That’s awful.
@safc_simpson: We've had no luck have we. Glad his contract has been extended. Speedy [email protected]
@MattySafc98: Such bad news for a quality guy. Hopefully when he is back, he is back better than ever.
@99Mattie: It just pains you to be a Sunderland supporter at the moment…
@LukeHuggan: When it rains it pours and it seems to continuously pour on us doesn't it
@DavidHindmarsh7: That is horrific, good luck getting back @J2Willis
