The former Sunderland midfielder slotted home in the dying stages of the 1-0 win over the Czech Republic - but the celebrations were short-lived for Henderson, who saw his first international goal disallowed following a VAR check.

There were few complaints from the England side on the field with the Liverpool captain clearly in an offside position when he netted, and Henderson took the opportunity to send a tongue-in-cheek tweet following the game.

Accompanied by a picture of him speaking with the referee, he posted a message of ‘Are you definitely definitely sure!?’ alongside a number of laughing faces.

Victory for England secured their place as winners of the group, and they will meet one of France, Germany, Hungary or Portugal in the last sixteen.

Henderson also tweeted: "Solid performance and great to be back out there!. Let’s get ready for a big one next week!!!”
