Aiden McGeady has found himself out in the cold at the Stadium of Light under Phil Parkinson and spent the second half of last season out on loan with Charlton Athletic.

This season, the 34-year-old returned to the North East but has been training with the youth teams, whilst also making a number of media appearances as Sunderland struggle to keep pace with the top two in League One.

But the former Republic of Ireland international was announced in Dickman’s under-23 side for their match this afternoon, an interesting development to the saga.
