'Anything else is a joke!': Sunderland fans react to the club's firm stance over League One promotion

Sunderland fans have backed the club’s stance over the remainder of the League One season – after CEO Jim Rodwell reiterated the Black Cats’ desire to see promotion decided on the pitch.

The EFL board are meeting today to discuss the next steps in their bid to determine the fate of the 2019/20 season.

League Two clubs have already voted to curtail their season, but the matter is far more complex in the third tier where clubs are split over what should come next.

But Rodwell’s strong statement, which was released by the club on Wednesday morning, made clear that Sunderland want to see the season played to an end.

They are joined by Portsmouth, Peterborough, Fleetwood, Ipswich and Oxford in calling for all remaining fixtures to be played.

And fans have backed this view, with the majority of the reaction to Rodwell’s statement positive:

Some fans, however, had concerns over the stance – and called for the season to be ended:
