Tony Mowbray has made an encouraging start to life on Wearside and has managed to integrate some of those previously on the fringes in two impressive recent away performances.
Here we take a look at those who are thriving thus far, and who will be hoping for a bigger chance to impress soon...
21. AMAD DIALLO
Helped turn the game at Vicarage Road by drifting smartly into some really dangerous areas and showing some quality on the ball. On that showing he has a massive role to play. Photo: Frank Reid
22. JEWISON BENNETTE
Too early to make any major judgement but in his two substitute appearances he has shown a good first touch and electric pace. Very exciting and clearly has a part to play in the short as well as long term. Photo: Frank Reid
23. AND STILL TO COME....
Sunderland have been concerned about the lack of cover for Corry Evans, so a hugely impressive debut from Abdoullah Ba at Watford was encouraging. He’ll have a bigger part to play after the international break, at which point Edouard Michut should also be ready to make his debut. Photo: FRANK REID
