The Black Cats are searching for as many as five new arrivals during the winter trading period, with Parkinson set to make his mark on the squad after some disappointing resuls of late.
But who could be arriving at the Stadium of Light? Scroll down and click through the pages to see who has been linked with Sunderland:
13. Jason Lokilo (Crystal Palace)
The young winger - formerly of Belgian giants Anderlecht - has reportedly been told he can leave Crystal Palace on loan in January. Sunderland have tentatively been mentioned as one possible destination. Photo: Jack Thomas
14. Hakeeb Adelakun (Bristol City)
The Bristol City winger is a long-standing target of the Black Cats, having previously been linked in the summer of 2018. Football Insider claimed a loan move could be possible this month after injuries woes stifled his progress in the South West, but he has since gone on to join Rotherham United. Photo: Marc Atkins
15. Liam Boyce (Burton Albion)
Parkinson has made no secret of his desire to land a striker in the January window, and the Sun claim that Burton's Liam Boyce is a top target for the Black Cats. Hearts are also keen on the striker, with a fee of £250,000 suggested. Photo: Charles McQuillan
16. Lewis Coyle (Leeds United)
The full-back has featured against the Black Cats this term for Fleetwood Town, and was subsequently linked with a move to the Stadium of Light. Instead, it was the Cod Army who sealed a permanent deal for Coyle. Photo: Matthew Lewis
